Read your worries away

I'm back! Oh gosh, I'm such a lousy blogger. I'm so sorry for being gone for like a week or so with no updates at all, whoever cares out there. Haha. I think I just had one major bloggers block. Oh what the heck, who am I kidding, maybe its just pure laziness? But whatever, the important thing is I'm back and 'em packed with a whole lot more spirit and dedication into improving this blog of mine (I've been thinking and researching a lot) Lol! So for this post, I'll share to you guys some books that my instructor in Fashion Design suggested as some must reads for fashion books. It's not a necessity really but books can be whole lot of help in terms of gaining more knowledge and insight into things.

Haha, couldn't think of any good title for this post so don't worry if you don't get it. I don't get it either :)) Lol

Contemporary Fashion Illustration Techiques by Naoki Watanabe
As far as affordability and quality goes, this here is best book to get if you wanna learn the basic and most important aspects in Fashion sketching and illustration. It'll also tech you how to create an edge on your own sketches. It ain't cool to be mainstream right? Haha

9 Heads: A Guide to Drawing Fashion by Nancy Riegelman

Well if you've got money to spare then 9 Heads would be best for you. Its complete and direct to the point with everything you have to know in creating your own fashion figures

Fashion Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones & Anonymous
Get an idea on what an A-list Fashion Designer's life can be :) Its true when they say that its not always glamorous in the fashion industry! Haha

The End of Fashion by Teri Agins
The business side of Fashion! Talent in designing can bring you somewhere but if you wanna go a looong way, you gotta be smart about it too :)

The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider's Guide to Career in Fashion by Teen Vogue
Before I even had the idea on what kinds of fashion books to buy, I've already been eyeing this one for a long time. I don't know why I haven't bought a copy yet but it's definitely on the top of my list :)

The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
I bet you've seen the movie already and I also bet that you've heard "the book's better than the movie" before, right? Haha well you hear it often for a reason.A little trivia: They say that the character on the book 'Miranda Priestly' editor-in-chief of Runway magazine was based/inspired by Anna Wintour of Vogue in real life.

Lauren Conrad Style by Lauren Conrad
Well, I added this to the bunch because I just love the girl. I adore her classic, effortlessly chic fashion style. Definitely something I'd want to achieve for myself ;)

Well, thats it for now :) Now you know what I'm trying to save up for these days. When you're a fashion student or aspiring to someday break it into the industry, its always an advantage when you know what you're doing and what you're getting yourself into. I still have a looong way to go and a lot more studying/improving to do so I'll be stocking up on books and mags and drain my brain with some major fashion knowledge :))

P.S. I'm still looking for some good fashion photography and pattern making books. I've seen one or two online but unfortunately they're either not available in the Philippines or too expensive for my budget. Can you guys suggest some for me? And where I can buy them? Lots of thanks! xx
